The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has given its permission for Russia’s ER-Telecom (Dom.ru) to proceed with a proposed takeover of Volgograd city telco Columbia Telecom, which provides fixed broadband, telephony and IPTV services to roughly 30,000 subscribers (more than 10% of fixed line customers in the city) over a 200km fibre-optic network. A purchase price was estimated at RUB300 million (USD5 million).
